About the Class
In our high school classroom, we will be reading from Hamlet by William Shakespeare and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. We will be focusing on writing literary analyses about each of these two works with emphasis on constructing essays that are appropriate for the 11th grade level. Because this is an English literature class, we will be working on critically viewing the novels we read as well as finding the individual student's own writing style through periodic essays throughout the school year. Each student will be evaluated on their essay formatting as well as their knowledge of the MLA style when typing up their assignments. In order to adhere to the state content standards, students will be required to take online quizzes about the content of the works they have read in class.
